(If you can’t see the video, watch Nasi Campur on YouTube here)
Thank you for watching!
Nasi campur, a combination of different curries over rice, has long been one of my favorite Malaysian food meals (and Indonesia).

Unlike nasi lemak (which is equally outstanding, but includes fewer dish choices and different ingredients), nasi campur is a smorgasbord that includes so many different dishes, it can be a challenging choice.
But choosing food is the type of challenge I love!
There were over 80 different dishes at Lina Sea Food Restaurant in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, and everything I piled onto my rice was most excellent.
Oh yah, the mother invited me back to the kitchen for some tasty snacks as well!

Hey Mark, was the nasi campur you had similar to the one seen here? http://baliholidayinfo.com/fr/content/what-eat-bali-famous-indonesian-foods-0
I grew up in Jakarta and nasi campur to me was more like the one seen there, it is rice with pork cooked in many different ways, seasoned boiled egg, cucumber, and sometimes accompanied with some kind of clear soup. If you have not tried it, I highly recommend it. I am sure you can find it in Malaysia and Singapore too. I also went to school in Singapore for 3 years and some of my favorite foods were laksa, hokkien mee, char kway teow, bak kut teh, and roti prata (oh no I am drooling right now). Also milk tea for the beverage! I guess food is something that you never get bored talking about. I am now in Canada and really miss those foods!

Hey Vincent, thank you for sharing that article – lots of good looking dishes! Yes, I think nasi campur in Malaysia is similar to the version in Indonesia. I actually first began eating nasi campur in Indonesia and that’s where I really learned to love it. Southeast Asia is just packed with awesome things to eat. Can you get any good Malaysian or Indonesian food in Canada?

Yes I can, there is a number of restaurants that I know, http://www.bananaleaf-vancouver.com/ in particular is really good but not cheap. You can also find them in some food courts, especially in chinatown area. Nothing beats the original though where you can get them for literally $2! Keep exploring, Mark!

Hey Deisy, I really want to come back to Indonesia soon. I know, it was in Indonesia about 3.5 years ago that I had my first plate of awesome nasi campur. What part of Indonesia are you from?
