Fresh Turmeric Root in Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan food is extremely delicious, and one of the spices that’s a fundamental part of the cuisine is turmeric root.

I took this photo in an area near Pusselawa and the turmeric was picked by a local grandmother that proceeded to cook one of the best chicken curries I’ve ever tasted in my life!

Hey Bama, cool to hear you’ll be going to Sri Lanka – I think you’ll really enjoy – easily one of the most amazing countries I’ve visited. Have fun and eat a lot of Sri Lankan curry for me!

This is a beautiful photo. I love it. I regularly cook Indian and this explains turmeric’s gorgeous color.
