Location: Bangkok, Thailand
One thing I can’t complain about is the glorious selection of tropical fruit (for cheap) that is available throughout Southeast Asia. I’ve had some great fruit in other parts of the world, but the diversity, quality, and quantity of fruit in SE Asia is something truly amazing.
In Thailand, fruit is eaten in all stages of life: ripe, unripe, sour, sweet, and often a component in Thai desserts.
I love to eat fruit – and try new fruits as well!

Pictured here is a dragonfruit (pink) and a papaya (orange) that were perfectly ripe and ready to be devoured!

Those are beautiful, and I am a sucker for beautiful food–if you need a laugh, see what happened to me when I tried a beautiful unknown “delicacy.” http://www.50plusandontherun.com/2011/09/be-careful-what-you-eat-in-jungle.html

I love the colors of these fruits… We get papayas here in India a lot and I gorge on them!! Never seen or heard about the other fruit though.
Have a fabulous week ahead Mark:)

Thank a lot Arti! I’m in Sri Lanka right now and I’m enjoying wood apples, something I’d never seen or heard of before. I bet you have them too in India! Hope you have a great week as well.

I love how fruit and vegetables are presented in Thailand – the carvings but also just the beautiful bright colours as you’ve captured here.

I have to agree with you Mark — the variety and quality of fruit is amazing. Even simple things like bananas are yum — it’s amazing how good stuff tastes without pesticides… 🙂

Dragon fruit is gorgeous and so yummy! If you can find Peruvian Apples – it’s a cactus fruit, go for it – think you’d enjoy those as well.
