Nice collection. I have never seen the view in photo 11 before. My favourite however, is the feet.

For someone like me that haven’t been in Angkor Wat, and every time I see the pictures, they always the classic shot ones, I love the detail pictures you captured here. I like the subtleties. A few years ago we went to Borobudur. Most of the people chose to enjoy it from far, or stroll right to the top and have a picnic/chat with their companions. Ryan and I took a slower route, we checked out every terrace, unless it had too much bees (yes, a lot of bee nests up there).

Cool Dina, did you walk all the way around every level? That’s quite a ways! The temples are incredible from far, but for me the most stunning part is the close intricate details. Both of these temple complexes are not just meant to be looked at from a distance, but also right in front of your nose!

@Suresh: Didn’t know that about the bird heads, that’s very interesting, thanks for sharing.

How beautiful! These are really gorgeous photos, and the black and white makes them even more dramatic. Really nice use of shadow.

Excellent photos Mark.
This is actually the place where I decided that travel was going to play a significant role in my life. My long journey began right at Angkor Wat on December 31st 1999.
Thanks for taking me back for a few minutes!

Nicely done with the B&W. The tree temple looks surreal!

Cool pics. The ‘bird heads’ are called Yazhi! in sanskrit. These were considered as watch guards to protect from evil forces. Reference ~ Hindu Mythology.

Nice shots, man! I really like the B&W theme. Ever wonder why all these ancient civilizations put bird heads on statues?
